Toilet overflows outside or back into pan
In this case, the inlet valve does not shut off completely and allows water to
let by. Over time, the level rises and overflows outside. A repair or
replacement of inlet valve is required.
The toilet leaks water around side when flushed
This leak tends to be visible when the toilet is flushed. At
Brighton and Hove
Plumbers, we find that the cause of this is that the seal between pan and
cistern has degraded and needs to be resealed. The toilet will need to be taken
apart and repaired.
Toilet leaks at inlet pipe
This leak is continual and not just when the toilet is flushed. The supply pipe
connection to the cistern has deteriorated and needs fixing. If access is easy
then this is a job that can be done within the first hour of work.
Toilet makes large noise when flushed
A loud sound like a pump grinding away is heard. We tend to find at Brighton and
Hove Plumbers that a small valve that is not working correctly can cause shock
waves to occur in the piping system and like a sting on a guitar being plucked
it can make a very resonant sound. Replacement of the inlet valve is required
and is a better long term solution that repairing it.
